Every step in a campervan build brings its own set of challenges, and this time, it was fitting all the cupboard doors. While most of them were straightforward installations, I decided to make one of them a sliding door, which required a bit more problem-solving.
Reusing & Repurposing Cabinet Doors
For this build, I wanted to be as resourceful as possible, so I decided to reuse the cabinet doors from my previous campervan setup. This worked well for most of the storage areas, except for the fridge and toilet compartments, which I’ll tackle later.
The main doors needed to be fitted:
✅ Upper storage cabinets
✅ Side storage compartments
✅ Interior cabinet spaces
✅ The tricky sliding door
With quite a few doors to install, I got to work!
Trimming & Adjusting the Upper Cabinet Door
One of the bedroom storage doors needed resizing, as it was slightly too deep. To fix this:
✔️ I measured and trimmed it down with my circular saw.
✔️ I routed a new channel for the T-slot trim—a first for me!
✔️ I reinstalled the hinges and fitted it into place.
The best part? I was able to reuse the trimmed-off piece elsewhere, making sure nothing went to waste.
Final Touches & Moving Forward
With the doors now in place, all that was left was to install the catches and test the functionality. Everything fit perfectly, and I was pretty stoked with how it turned out!
Next up, I’ll be working on the fridge and toilet storage to complete the setup.
