A Hidden Gem in the Mountains: Discovering Spaletto and a Wild Swim

Some places feel like they belong in a storybook, and today, I found one. Nestled high in the mountains, we stumbled upon a tiny village—Spaletto. With its crystal-clear river, stone cottages, and intricately carved wooden doors, it felt like a place untouched by time.

As we wandered through the village, I had one goal in mind: find a place to swim. The river looked absolutely pristine, but the first spot we found was too shallow. Still, the adventure was just beginning.

Finding the Perfect Swimming Spot

Leaving the village behind, we followed a winding road until we came across another potential location—marked only by a small path leading down toward the water. And there it was.

💦 A deep, inviting pool fed by a cascading waterfall.
🏔 Surrounded by rugged mountain scenery.
❄️ Cold, clear water—exactly how I like it.

Without hesitation, I jumped in. And wow—invigorating doesn’t even begin to describe it. The icy water jolted me awake, sending a rush of energy through my body. Floating in the natural pool, surrounded by rock walls and the sounds of rushing water, I felt completely alive.

Exploring the Waterfalls

After drying off, I followed the river downstream to see where it led. The water tumbled over rocks, forming a larger waterfall just a little further down. It looked deep enough to jump into, but with the riverbed hidden beneath the swirling currents, I decided not to risk it. Sometimes, it’s better to admire nature’s beauty from a safe distance.

Walking back up, I noticed a house built right onto a bridge—completely empty, its shutters closed. It added to the mystical feeling of this place, like a secret world waiting to be discovered.

Final Thoughts

This day was an unexpected adventure, filled with serene villages, untouched landscapes, and the thrill of a wild swim. Spaletto may be small, but it’s proof that some of the best places are the ones you find by accident.

Would I come back? Absolutely.

For now, it’s time to dry off, warm up, and find the next hidden gem.

🚐💨 Onward to the next adventure!
