This is how I changed my vacuum pump on my Volkswagen T4 2.5tdi. It was ticking loudly and also leaking oil over the front of the engine and electrical plugs near the sump – neither of which is good.
Changing the vacuum pump cured both the loud ticking from the engine but also the leak that was covering the front of the engine and electrical connectors in oil.
