Our VW T4 Transporter with the 2.5tdi AJT/ACV 5 cylinder diesel engine developed slow starting issues over time. Although it ran fine when started, it took a lot of cranks of the engine to fire up and produced a fair amount of smoke while cold.
In this video I show how I changed the original Stanadyne diesel injectors for the Bosch injectors used on the ACV version of this AJT/ACV engine.
After the swap the engine ran beautifully and starts immediately – even without any ECU tweaks.
I recommend you use penetrating fluid and a diesel injector removal tool, which is like a small slide hammer.
